Erosion analysis and control
The analysis of erosion problems and of the geological context in which they evolve is done through the analysis of multiple series of air-photos as well as field observations and measurements.
These analyses are generally adressing erosion processes on river banks or on the shoreline of reservoirs (existing or anticipated). They can as well address the stability of existing shorelines. Knowledge of present day or past erosion processes allows to anticipate the evolution of a given area, assess the future erosional impacts on existing or anticipated installations and, furthermore, recommend measures to control, minimize and manage erosion.
For the last ten years, our firm has developped an expertise regarding stabilizing works (conception and surveillance) and has played key roles in environmental impact studies in major projects.

Identification and mapping of risk areas (landslide, rock falls, flood plain, shallow flows, etc);
Recommendation of custom-made shoreline stabilization guidelines;
Physical evolution assessment of targetted areas by means of historic air-photographs;
Watercourse characterization and planning of faunistic habitat;
Environmental impact assessment and mitigation measures;
Guidance proposals for environmental monitoring;
Land and environmental assessment for recreational infrastructures (parks, pedestrian trails, ATV trails, ski-doo trails, construction, etc.);
Legal expertise for dispute cases regarding soil and surface material characteristics, public consultation, facilitation and mediation. >> Click here to read more...
Legal expertises
The advice of an expert in geosciences may be helpful to shed an impartial light on disputes involving the physical aspects of soils and surficial materials and deposits.Such disputes involve generally the quality of borrow material, value of evicted gravel and sand pits, effects of erosion or sedimentation following modification of the physical environment, or following major events such as flash floods or landslides. Poly-Géo has participated, as an expert, in multiple dispute cases concerning erosion problems in southern Québec.
